Dear LDS Music Friend,

 Even though I have several degrees in music (4, to be exact), I’ve had remarkable testimony-building experiences from music composed by composers without formal composition training.

 During a particularly difficult time as a young missionary, a letter from my Dad reminded me vividly of a piece he composed. We sang his piece, “I Believe,” in our Stake Youth Choir when I was in high school. 

 As I read the comforting words of my Dad’s testimony, it reminded me of his song. And the memory of that song, the memory of his testimony coming through the words and melody gave me hope and courage to carry on.

 My Dad doesn’t have any degrees in music. But what he does have is the key to writing this kind of testimony piece. And it’s the basis of what we do inside the Musivangelists Club.

 But before I tell you what this key ingredient was and how you can easily cultivate in your own life and music work, let me assure you that…

 Don’t let anyone tell you, you CAN’T write a beautiful piece of music. And please, don’t let the memory of a rude musician sway you from trying. Far too often, “educated” musicians (and I’m one of them, so I can pick on them/us) come across as offensive. But please, take it from me, you CAN do this! And my students are PROOF (see their comments below).

 Sure, you can learn to compose a new hymn, or a Primary Song or Hymn Arrangement by enrolling at your local University’s music department. But it will cost thousands of dollars in tuition and your instruction will NOT focus exclusively on the writing of meaningful, testimony-laden music for the Church.

#2 - Introduction To Harmony Training

 Need a refresher or are more detailed introduction to music harmony? I've got you covered. In this "Introduction To Harmony Training," I'll cover the basics of music harmony from the rudiments. There's nothing wrong with starting at the very beginning because that's where you'll find the fundamentals. And the more you stick to the fundamentals, the stronger your craft will develop. These trainings will help you get a better hold on harmony and a foundation to build on.

#3 - Sealed-Off Access to the "Musivangelist Study Hall"

 This is a hidden area inside the Latter-Day Musiversity smartphone app reserved only for Musivangelist members in good standing. All monthly trainings, critiques, Zoom calls, and all other membership content will be found inside this secret chamber of the app. 

#4 - Weekly Office Hours

 Every Friday at 2 pm mountain time (unless otherwise indicated due to holidays, etc.), we'll have open office hours for all members. Bring what you're working on, let's have a look and help you get your writing sharpened up.

#5 - Monthly "Challenge"

 Each month I present a little challenge to help you continue your progress. We've had "long melody" challenges, "Christmas Carol arrangement" challenges, and many others. Sometimes I open up these challenges for free to anyone and everyone... but when I do... nobody gets to keep the recordings unless they pay for them... or unless they are members of the Musivangelist Club. With ongoing challenges, you can always have something to work on in case you're not sure what to do next.

 We can only do so much in a 1-hour zoom call each week. But in the private Musivangelist Club Facebook Group, we can share and help each other even more.

 I'll also share fun articles and other cool musical things I come across so you can stay "in the know." The community inside the Musivangelist is my favorite thing of all. And here we can have even more fun together.

I am starting the process of launching the "Latter-Day Musiversity Press" at the beginning of 2022. This is a platform where I will publish ALL my LDS music as FREE downloads for anyone to enjoy. Now you can have a platform to publish your music in the same catalog as my LDS music.

 There will be multiple stages of submission, editorial work, and publication preparation. You will keep 100% ownership of your copyright.
